04/04/2010 - Easter Hols and
time to get some building done
Spent
most of the morning putting together the aft most section of the
aft fuselage where the tail spring attaches. I was dreading
this bit because I was still not happy with the fit. The
night before I had assembled the aft fuselage with clecos and
alodined and primed the thick tail wheel attach skin.
Just
take your time with the where the tail wheel bracket attaches,
take time to get the fit just right with the side skins and angle
of dangles !! it came good and I am chuffed with the result.

As
most have done I inverted the tub to start the riveting process.
In the afternoon Ian had come round to help with the process.
Started out with the straight forward air hammer and bucking
bar, then remembered how I had done the wings with a large heavy
flat bucking bar on the factory head and the back riveting set
inside the tub. Less to go wrong this way I find.
One side, two rows about 180 rivets completed, more
to do tomorrow.
05/04/2010 - And more building
:-)
Bob cam up for the day and work commenced after we
had watched the start of the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. The
task to set as many rivets as we could or at least to do the ones
that we needed two people to complete. It was a great day,
uneventful in terms of stressful moments, plenty of progression
and the fuselage starts to take shape.

Just a few more rivets to set around the tail cone
area by the tail wheel attach bracket as you can see in the first
photo. Some 500 odd rivets set over the weekend. Next
attention will turn to the centre fuselage again.
